Chevy Releases a Peek of the 2014 Camaro

The "peek" is very little, but definitely intriguing enough to have us stay tuned until the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Chevrolet's Camaro is due for a refresh, having been on the market since 2009 and the good news is, it's safe to say affirmative on the update! The automaker officially announced that its muscle car will get a mild makeover and that the refreshed model will make its debut the end of this month in New York at the International Auto Show. Just to get Camaro fans going, the sneak peek single photo leak is of the 2014's grille.

We really don't know what tweaks to expect on the updated Camaro, but from the photo we're able to see that the grille appears to be thinner and mounted more flush against the front fascia. The grille's detailing is similar the to 2014 Impala which goes on sale at the end of next month. Maybe, just maybe, we can get some ideas of what Camaro tweaks we can expect.

Here's to hoping the LED taillights available on Europe-market Camaros make their way onto our refreshed model!

Spring Clean Your Chevy

Spring is upon us and that means it’s time to clean out not only our homes, but our vehicles as well. Time to throw out those water bottles that have been building up, dust off your dashboard and let some fresh air in. Yes, some glass cleaner and a once over with the vacuum is good, but it has been some Winter season, between the snow, ice, salt brine, floods and whatever else you may have driven through. We want to inform you on how important it is to thoroughly inspect any damage the season may have caused.

In our February newsletter we had sent out a Salt Brine Warning, explaining that while it does keep us safe from snow and ice build up on the roads, it unfortunately causes damage to our vehicles, mostly the undercarriage. The mixture of the Salt Brine accelerates corrosion to the suspension. Body damage is possible as well. There is no avoiding this issue, but that is why we want you to take some time this Spring to give your Chevy some extra TLC.

What you must do is inspect your vehicle’s underbody for rust. Also pay attention to any other Winter damage, we have all hit a pothole or two.

If you notice that there is any suspicious areas bring your vehicle in to Rt 46 Chevrolet’s Service Center and we’ll have an ASE Certified Master Technician inspect it for you. We want to do our best to keep you and your Chevy safe! You can schedule your service appointment here.

Happy Spring!

2015 Chevy Vehicles with Built In Wi-Fi

GM announced that for the 2015 line-up of Chevrolet pick-ups will have 4G LTE, Wi-Fi built in. The GM teamed up with AT&T to embed the mobile broadband modems in the vehicles. Owners of new 2015 Chevy pick-ups will get much faster data speeds for safety and convenience features as well as a more future-proof infotainment system.
What does this all mean exactly? Well, 4G capability will bring enhanced features and services into the car, including creating an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot, which allows streaming video for back-seat passengers, encourage faster development of in-dash applications and foster over-the-air software updates. It will also provide faster response for the safety features and services of OnStar telematics system.
The automaker said that these “enhancements build on OnStar’s existing portfolio of built-in connected services." Verizon has been the carrier since 1996 when OnStar was first introduced, that will no longer be come 2014. There aren’t any details yet on what kind of monthly costs drivers who opt for this LTE connection will incur, but GM does mention that it will integrate with OnStar so the option might be an added tier to that service.
This is something we are definitely excited about. AT&T's 4G connectivity could also make GM’s infotainment systems more future-proof. "So when the next great streaming music service comes out in two years,” Greg Ross, director of business development and strategic alliances for GM’s Global Connected Consumer division, “you’ll be able to add that to the car and we can make it available at any time.”
